About Ed

Hi — I’m Ed Mackay,

Since 2013, I’ve had the privilege of sharing Mini Monsters with thousands of children and adults across the UK — from classrooms and nurseries to clubs, youth groups and organisations such as Norwich Science Festival, the Royal Society of Biology and the Royal Horticultural Society.

I’ve spent my career working with, caring for, and studying animals, and I’m deeply passionate about animal welfare, conservation and the natural world. I believe that hands-on encounters with living creatures can spark curiosity, build confidence, promote wellbeing and create lifelong learners — especially when these experiences are safe, calm and educational.

My background includes:

  • BSc in Environmental Sciences

  • Education Diploma

  • Enhanced DBS check

  • £5 million public liability insurance

  • Valid Animal Activity Licence
(All certificates are available on request.)

I love sharing my passion with the next generation. Seeing wide-eyed wonder, thoughtful questions and joyful discoveries is why I do this — and it’s incredibly rewarding to help children connect with the natural world in a meaningful way.

Thanks for visiting my site and I hope to meet you soon!

Ed Mackay.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for coming to our school yesterday. The children thoroughly enjoyed their sessions and we were all thrilled that every child and teacher was able to enjoy the experience too. You are so knowledgeable and you also talk very well to our young children. I really appreciate how adaptable you were throughout the day.

Thank you once again for a really amazing birthday party for Millie this afternoon.
You are really wonderful at working with kids (and adults) and everyone got so much from it!
Thank you very much once again
