MiniMonsters for Schools

A MiniMonsters roadshow is an exciting addition to the school day and can take place in the school hall or move from classroom to classroom.  I offer a range of sessions to enhance the curriculum, including two new climate change sessions that are now booking for Autumn 2008.  Each session is ideally aimed at a group size of one class (up to approx 30 children).  All sessions are adaptable to suit your school's specific needs.  Upon booking, written confirmation is sent including health and safety guidelines.

The Original Creepy Crawly Roadshow– All ages

This live animal encounter can be adapted for all audiences, from early years through to university students.  Children and adults can learn about and handle a range of ‘creepy crawly’ creatures, from Giant African Land Snails through to Corn Snakes.  No child is ever forced to handle any animal that he/she is not comfortable with.

A standard session lasts for 50 minutes and can be themed on topics such as diet, habitats, minibeasts, conservation/endangered species or classification.  Session times can be adapted to fit your timetable and school size.

Ethical Enterprise – Key Stage 3 & above

Originally developed for National Enterprise Week.  During the 50 minute session, we explore the ups and downs of self employment, as well as meeting some of the animals.  The session can be themed or ‘student led’ looking at business start up, work/life balance, marketing, legal issues, finances, administration, environmental issues, sustainability… the list is endless.   Students leave feeling inspired and imagining the many possibilities that their futures hold.

Big Foot  - Key Stages 2 & 3

Climate change can seem overwhelming for both children and adults, but it is an issue that must be addressed.  Big Foot aims to make the topic understandable and relevant, whilst remaining fun and interactive.  The session lasts for approximately 80 minutes and looks at the carbon cycle, energy use, footprints and climate change, with hands on activities and group discussion/decision making.  Includes the Energy Toy Box.

There’s a Rumble in my Tummy – Key Stages 1 & 2

Rumble in my Tummy combines current issues such as healthy living and eating, food miles, energy, packaging and waste.  The session is approximately 80 minutes long and includes hands on activities and group discussions.  Includes the Energy Toy Box and a special guest appearance of one of the MiniMonsters to demonstrate recycling and compost production.

The Big Foot and There’s a Rumble in my Tummy Roadshows could be used as evidence towards S3 self-evaluation and/or Eco-schools status.
